Bridal Airbrush Q&A

January 18, 2016 by Colleen

Now that the holidays are over and 2016 is upon us, newly engaged brides are starting to plan their dream wedding day for later in the year. Visiting potential reception venues, trying on bridal gowns, tasting food samples – there’s a lot to do!

As you look into makeup and makeup artists, you will come across airbrush makeup. If you’re not familiar with airbrush makeup, here are some answers to commonly asked questions:

Will airbrush makeup last all day?

Yes! Even on a hot and humid New England summer day, your makeup will hold up.

I really want something that feels lightweight and looks natural. Will I get that with airbrush makeup versus traditional makeup?

Absolutely! The great thing about airbrush is that you can get full coverage at a very light weight – it can feel like you have no makeup on at all.

What’s the downside to airbrush makeup?

Airbrush makeup isn’t for every skin type. If your skin has been very dry or dehydrated, you may want to use traditional makeup instead.

I have very sensitive skin – will airbrush irritate my skin?

No – airbrush makeup is non-comedogenic (designed not to block pores), and free of parabens, phthalates and gluten.

Will airbrush help minimize the appearance of my blemishes, darkspots and redness?

Not only will it cover those areas, airbrush makeup will provide a clean, smooth finish that won’t look cakey.

Check out some brides below who decided to use airbrush makeup!

Bridal Style Shoot – 1950’s Fourth of July in downtown Bristol, RI

November 24, 2015 by Colleen

Who does July 4th better than Bristol, Rhode Island? Bristol’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration, established in 1785, is the oldest continuous celebration in the USA. One of America’s most patriotic towns, Bristol was the inspiration and the setting for this 1950’s red, white and blue elopement wedding style shoot.

We had the same fantastic group of professionals as our Blithewold bridal style shoot. To create a 1950’s look on our “bride”, C. King Brides came up with a beehive-inspired French twist and I did bold red lips, signature cat eyes, pink cheeks and Temptu airbrush. The bride wore a simple, white Kate Spade New York dress and a veil from Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique in Fall River, MA. Our groom’s patriotic outfit was provided by Milan Fine Clothiers in Barrington, RI.

Linden Place, one of the most popular wedding venues in town, was our primary backdrop. Photography by Mallory created a colorful red, white blue table setting theme, and Leslie Lee Floral Design provided the cutest center pieces! In our street scene below, some of you may recognize The Cake Gallery, located directly across from Linden Place in the heart of downtown.

You can check out more photos in DIY Weddings Magazine or our Press page. A special thanks to all the vendors who made this fun shoot possible!

Bridal Style Shoot – Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum

November 22, 2015 by Colleen

Thanks for checking out my first blog post! Go easy on me, I’m a newbie at this! 🙂

One of the fun aspects of my career is collaborating with other professionals. I recently worked with Photography by Mallory to produce a 1920’s inspired wedding photoshoot at Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum, a beautiful special events facility on the Bristol, RI waterfront. Our shoot was published in Southern New England Weddings Destination Magazine, and you can check out the article on the Press page.

Our color theme was Cranberry and Ivory, and we used antique furniture, linens, and dishware to set the scene on the Blithewold grounds. We were also lucky enough to borrow a vintage 1920 Model T! Mallory and I had a great team of local vendors who contributed to this shoot: Leslie Lee Floral Design from New Bedford, MA made a beautiful bouquet and table setting that perfectly captured the vintage vibe of the shoot. The Cake Gallery in downtown Bristol made a delicious, tall “naked cake”. Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique in Fall River, MA provided a beautiful vintage-inspired wedding dress for our “bride” and Milan Fine Clothiers in Barrington, RI dressed our handsome “groom”. Hair was done by C. King Brides and airbrush makeup was done by Colleen Elizabeth Makeup.

I’ll be sharing some other fun bridal style shoots and real weddings in the future!
